Seized 'art porn' owned by Sir Elton John

One of Elton John's paintings in his collection by Nan Goldin has been seized by police on suspicion that it may have breached child pornography laws. Golding's images often use younger female characters and have been critisized in the past for being sexually explicit. This particular images features two young girls one of whom was sitting down with her legs wide apart from Goldin's Thanksgiving series. Police would not further comment on the investigation of the art piece. Sir Elton John was also not available to comment.

Goldin was born in Washington DC, ran away from home and was fostered by several families during her childhood. She moved to New York after graduating from art school where she took became known for pictures of alcoholics, drug addicts and Aids sufferers.

Salma Hayek Has a Baby Girl

Salma Hayek welcomed a baby girl into her new family. The 41-year old actress and her finacee, Francois Henri Pinault are proud parents of Valentina Paloma Pinault. This is Hayek's first child.

The actress's pregnancy was first revealed in March, at the same time that the couple announced they were engaged to be married.

Whoopi and The View are on ratings high

Hiring Whoopi Goldberg for "The View" was a good decision it seems. Her debut on the show was a bit lacluster, but ratings are now indicating that he moderating skills are drawing in over 3.5 million viewers in her second week of taping, an increase of 17%.

The first week, the two shows both averaged 3.4 million viewers. But in the second week, the Goldberg-led "View" started to pull away, with 3.6 million viewers compared with 3 million a year ago.

Prison Guard Killed During Inmate Escape

A female prison guard has been killed during an escape at Huntsville prison. Prisoner Jerry Martin and John Ray Falk apparently overpowered her while working outside on a highway project. They ran her over with a vehicle during their excape. Falk has ben caught but martin remained on the loose.

Anyone who sees Martin was advised not to approach him and to immediately called police.

GM workers go on strike

It's official. After a short press conference the United Auto Workers Union has announced a national strike for the auto workers, a first since the 1970's. Over 73,000 GM workers walked off the job today.



About 73,000 GM workers walked off the job at 82 GM factories nationwide after failing to reach an agreement by an 11 a.m. deadline.
