Kite-surfing is one of the most fun and most physically challenging sports--ever. So imagine doing it everyday to get to work? This is what David Grimes, a 37-year-old IT manager does to avoid traffic jams. He puts on his wet suit, gets on the board and kite-surfs to work..Would you try it?

Sailing past traffic jams is every commuter’s dream but David Grimes does that almost every day - literally.

I love an art car parade

My sister lives in Houston so I visit often, but I have to be honest. It's not a city you would otherwise travel to for a vacation. However, Houston held a really cool event this past weekend called the Art Car Festival that would've been really worth it for some checking out. For a special 20th anniversary edition, a spectacular array of cars made out of Legos, decorated to look like cartoons, muffins and wood were just some of the outrageous designs this year that entered the parade and competition. Funkadelic grand puba-master George Clinton was the ringmaster this year.

Houston's is the oldest and largest art-car parade in the world, a party put on annually by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art. Last year, more than 200,000 people watched a flying saucer, a fat rat and a collection of penguins all ride into downtown.

Once the last car rolled by (except the one that didn't make it up the hill and was still stranded under the Montrose Boulevard overpass), we all got up and ambled slowly toward the parking lot.

Might
have been nice to have met with the ringmaster for this year's event,
the Grandfather of Punk himself, George Clinton.

Mr. Edible: What's wrong with eating horse meat?

This is the debate that's creating a big stink in the blogosphere and apparently in front of Gordon Ramsey's restaurant. (Ramsey is a big fan of using horse meat in his London restaurant which was recently the target of a protest that included a dump truck and horse poop.) I'm not sure how I feel about this issue, but a Telegraph columnist makes convincing arguments for the benefits of consuming (if one was to consume) horse meat. The article lists the numerous diseases that you can't catch if you eat horse meat, like mad cow, bird flu and tuberculosis and also claims horse meat has half the fat and ten times the Omega 3's of beef...

What do you think?

The reason why it is a Taboo in Anglo/Celtic society , is that Horses were seen as Companions of Men not as Cattle.
A Warrior established a relationship with his Horse and would bury them with respect.

Only Savages eat Horses.

It was in France that I first encountered horsemeat. During a brief stint at a Parisian boarding school, it was occasionally served, poached and thinly sliced.

U.S. divorce rate lowest..like since the 70's- AP

Good news...
The National U.S. per capita divorce rate has declined since 1981, making it now the lowest level since 1970...

Many researchers however aren't sure whether or not to be optimistic or cynical about the study...they say factors like people living together before marriage [and subsequently not getting married] and income levels [affluent, college educated couples could contribute to the falling rates, however less-affluent couples aren't] should be examined before determining the marriages have actually stabilized.

"People are coexisting more peacefully, whether they stay together or come apart," Rosen said. "They are more contemplative and serious about their relationships, and I see people stay together who once would have allowed the marriage to unravel."
