I have to admit that when I look at the Red Cross symbol, I don't think of Johnson and Johnson brand Band Aids. I do however think of the non-profit organization. This is the basis behind J&J's trademark lawsuit against the Red Cross. They say J&J has had a trademark copyright on the red cross, two red lines interaecing eachother since 1887. Although they've had an amicable agreement over the symbol with the Red Cross for over a century, J&J now claims the Red Cross is now licensing the trrademark to businesses for commercial purposes.
The suit asks the Red Cross to turn over the products in question to Johnson & Johnson for destruction and also seeks unspecified punitive damages.Source: forbes.com
