Sandcastle festival a total washout

Berlin's International Sand Sculpture Festival is an annual spectacle that draws worldwide media coverage. But this year it seems the coverage this event needs is not from the media, but from a huge rainstorm that has almost washed the event away. The downpour created large puddles around the towers of sand castles, as carvers struggled to protect hours of hard work with plastic sheeting. The exhibition is expected to be open to the public on June 29th.

As the rain pours down in Britain, spare a thought for those coping with a similar deluge in Berlin - home to the annual International Sand Sculpture Festival.
