Chinese internet users save cats

A smart internet message and a bunch of animal loving folk in Shanghai saved over 800 cats from being skinned and eaten. Huo Puyang's daughter-in-law was looking for her lost cat when she intercepted a truck full of kittens and pregnant cats that were on their way to the town of Guangdong, where some residents pride themselves on practically eating anything. As soon as Huo heard about his daughter-in-law's ordeal, he posted an internet message that got about 30 other animal rights activists to the scene. The driver was then paid off to release the cats.

The felines were on their way to the booming southern province of Guangdong, where some residents pride themselves as gourmets who will eat anything that flies, crawls or swims.
