Record heatwave: Las Vegas is hot

Record temperatures, as high as 125 Farenheit [52 Celsius]are gripping Las Vegas, parts of Southern California and Arizona. It's already 119 F in Las Vegas, which is 48 Celsius and it's only mid-morning. Officials are warning the elderly and tourists to stay indoors. In Arizona, the US Border Patrol has issued warnings to illegal immigrants the dangers of attempting to cross the border from Mexico in the heat.

Forecasters advised people in the worst hit areas to limit their time in the sun and carry out regular checks on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
